MATHILDE

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL

I have been a freelance architect since 2020. I have experience in architecture, interior design and project management. I collaborated with Neybor Services that creates both shared co-living spaces and fully furnished private apartments in Brussels. Before that, I participated in competition La Royale Belge with Stéphanie Parein who gave me the desire to design pure and colorful interiors. I have a certain interest in the re.use of materials that she developed during her 6 month internship at Rotor that dismantle, process and trade salvaged building components.

Collaboration with firms & private clients

Working independently with personal clients gave me a stronger sense of responsibility and creative freedom.

Architect decorator & project manager

Neybor Services, Brussels

Neybor is a co-living operating across Brussels, they re-imagine and transform spaces in existing structures to elevate the standard of living in cities. With a dual role as architect and project manager, I completed six construction projects for them - projects ranging from 250 to 700 m². I was responsible for preliminary designs, implementation files, and site supervision (team coordination, delivery planning, and logistics monitoring). My goal was to transform obsolete, old buildings into sensitive and comfortable ready-made homes.

Interior designer for "la Royale Belge" competition

SPIN, Brussels

Stéphanie Pareinan interior designer, requested me to work with her for a competition concerning the realization of a hotel in the brutalist building of Staples and Dufau. I was responsible for the spatial planning of the project. My role was to develop creative concepts in which I had to integrate the interior strategy and identity of Stephanie. She taught me to look beyond technical rules and to focus more on atmosphere, emotion, and the user experience.

Design assistant

Rotor DB, Brussels

Rotor is a cooperative design practice that investigates the organisation of the material environment. I worked on the organisation of the reuse of materials in the Usquare project, the conversion of the former Gendarmerie barracks in Brussels, a 40,000 m² site operated since 1906. This internship gave me an early sensitivity to materials, construction logic, and the life cycle of building components.

Jewelry:

An admirer of the work of artisans, Mathilde sometimes lends herself to the exercise of jewelry-making. For her, manual labor is a means of rest and meditation, more here.

As an entrepreneurial exercise, Mathilde started designing furniture with Spencer De Smedt. Those are coffee and side table, thought and made in their little kingdom Belgium, have a look here.

Field hockey, Royal Wellington THC:

Mathilde has always been involved with her field hockey team, training three times a week. Being part of a group with a common project and sporting goals is stimulating for her.

Other sports:

Mathilde supplements her field hockey training with swimming and running. In her spare time, she enjoys taking part in soccer tournaments or playing a leisurely game of tennis.
